    Book Summary:
Leafy, the caterpillar, spends his days in the bug orphanage watching other bugs get adopted and find homes. Leafy feels left out because no one will adopt him. He believes it’s the way he looks, because he doesn’t look like other caterpillars. As Leafy starts to give up hope, a very special black widow enters into Leafy’s world. She shows him that being unique is not a bad thing; it can be great! She offers Leafy something he can’t turn down.
Leafy Finds a Home is a wonderful tale about a caterpillar looking for a family to adopt him, but he's different than the other bugs at the orphanage. He has one attenae and he's brightly colored. When he thinks all hope is lost, a widow spider comes into his life and shows him acceptance and kindness. The widow is unique as well for she is missing a leg and is purple compared to a regular widow spider that is black. But in her heart she accepts her uniqueness and because of that is truly happy and content. She shows Leafy that being different is a good thing, and that the acceptance of ones self is most important. He soon learns that the love of a family can heal all wounds.
Willa Alders creates a simple story that many children will be able to relate to. Focusing on the topic of adoption, some children may have questions or doubts in their minds, but Willa dispells them with reassurance and hope.
The colorful and fun illustrations will capture the eye of every child in this 24 page picture book.
